- New Ezine Features -
I’m going to try a couple of new ideas for our ezine beginning with this issue. New to the ezine, we have seen these on other sites before. In fact, I have used them on our blog, I just decided to implement them into our ezine.

  1. Great Lines – Here’s where I add subject lines in my email inbox that impressed me enough that I opened the message.
  2. Great Reads – Like you, I visit many sites and blogs daily. Some of the posts and articles are just so great we want to share them. That’s just what I’ll do here.

- New Site Feature -
I have added a new section/page on our blog. It’s just a trial and I’m hoping it takes off. It is the Just Ask section. I’ve Added a contact form and even an 800 number with voice mail for U.S. visitors. The idea is to give subscribers and site visitors a way to ask and answer questions. Some Q&As will make it to blog posts and everyone that participates will get full credit including a one-way do-follow link to their site.

- Another site? -
I need it like I need another hole in my head but I have started another site. It’s eZinePress.com and there is a method to my madness. I simply do not have time to tackle a project that big. The reason I started eZinePress.com is to give it away. That’s right, I am going to hand over the complete site and domain. See ‘Extreme Marketing’ Contest In The Works.

Add A Public Comment To Your Site On Google Search With SearchWiki

Yahoo! local search has a nice feature that I’ve used a few times in the past that allows you to add a comment to business listings (example). Now Google has a similar feature on their search listings with SearchWiki. See my post at Add A Public Comment To Your Site On Google Search With SearchWiki

-= Advertising Slogan Trivia =-

Do you know your slogans? Answers at the end of this issue.

-= This Issue’s Joke =-

This issue’s joke is actually a riddle. Find the answer at the bottom of the ezine.

This is going to make you so MAD! There are three words in the English language that end in ‘gry’. ONE is angry and the other is hungry.
EveryONE knows what the third ONE means and what it stands for. EveryONE uses them everyday, and if you listened very carefully, I’ve given the third word away. What is it? _______gry?

My friend AJ from Healthiest Chocolate Ever sent this to me.

-= In a word – Defined =-

Drip Marketing

A direct marketing strategy that allows marketers to control the generation of sales leads. It involves sending out several promotional pieces over a period of time, so that the leads arrive at a rate the sales force can accommodate without the leads getting cold.

~ Bill Gates

“A dream becomes a goal when action is taken toward its achievement.”
~ Bo Bennett

“I am where I am because I believe in all possibilities.”
~ Whoopi Goldberg

“It’s easy to make a buck. It’s a lot tougher to make a difference.”
~ Tom Brokaw

Fun Fact: Tom Brokaw has been married to his wife wife Merideth since 1962.

- Riddle Answer -

I solved the riddle almost instantly.

“There are only three words in the English language.
What is the third word?

The third word is ‘language’.

1. the
2. English
3. language

Forget about the whole ‘GRY’ thing. That’s just misdirection.

Will The New Gmail Themes Effect Your Next Campaign?

Last week Google announced the launching of 30 new Gmail themes that users can use to visually spice up their Gmail experience simply by adjusting the settings. I use Gmail daily so I played with it a little but didn’t really give it much thought.

Potential Problem

Gmail’s new themes have the potential to pose a readability problem for your newsletter emails or email marketing campaigns. A couple of the themes actually change the background color of the main content area of the email. If you are using HTML in your emails, and you should be, keep this in mind the next time you change the font color. Perhaps you should contrast font colors by specifying the background color as well.

I don’t know how big of a problem this actually is. Gmail is very popular and I’m sure a significant percentage of your list are using Gmail but most of the themes use a white background by default.

Add A Public Comment To Your Site On Google Search With SearchWiki

Have you checked out Google’s newest creation SearchWiki? SearchWiki is for Google users that are signed into their Google accounts. I don’t know how many users that is but it has to be in the millions at any given time. When SearchWiki was launched a couple of days ago I didn’t give it much thought.

That was until I read a post on John’s Tech Blog Google Turns SEO On It’s Head! John’s post made me go back and pay attention to a Google search that I had just made. I was checking our ad tracking site‘s current position by searching ad tracking in Google search – still number two ;) So I went back and noticed the little icon comment icon where I could add a note to my URL.

YAT_search_result.jpg

I didn’t even think that was so special until I noticed that is was public! Wow, a public comment next to your URL in Google’s search results. SearchWiki does not affect the way websites are ranked by Google but adding a public comment about your site is a great way to make it more visible and perhaps even a little more legitimate in the eyes of some.

Free Online ‘Do Follow’ Blog Search Engine

I was just reading another great post from one of my new friends, Peter Lee, called How Blog Commenting Got Me 1200 Backlinks in 5 Days

In his post Peter included a valuable free online resource that I wanted to share with our subscribers and visitors. It’s a simple online search engine that finds Do-Follow blogs called LINK REMOVED [Oops, That link is now bad. Try this one instead http://www.inlineseo.com/dofollowdiver/ or this http://www.google.com/coop/cse?cx=013390256337737331053:jq3m6dxkyts]This speeds up the time it takes to find blogs that reward quality comments with search engine friendly backlinks. As you know, these back-links are needed to improve your SEO (search engine optimization). Continue reading

Searching For The Perfect Domain Name

Finding the perfect domain name for your next project can be tough. It can also become addicting once you get the hang of it.

There are many tools to aide in your search but I use the free online tool from Yahoo. It’s very easy. Go to their domains section and search for a domain that you know isn’t available such as Yahoo.com. Then click on ‘»See similar name options‘. Now every time you search for a domain name Yahoo will offer similar domains that are available.

Important: Use Yahoo! to find your new domain name but never use them to buy it. As of now you will be slapped silly with a crazy $34.95/year renewal fee. [See Yahoo Price Gouging @ $34.95/year] If you are buying the domain just to sell it later I recommend GoDaddy.com. Due to the whole Mike Filsaime issue back in 2005 [See this WebProWorld.com thread or this .PDF newsletter]. I try to stay clear of GoDaddy for sites I use. I use PowerPipe to register sites that I plan to put online.

Effectively Using An Email Signature

Signatures can be a useful form of providing contact information and adding a bit of personality in your emails for the people you communicate with online. Email signatures provide contact information to your correspondents. More importantly, they can be effective ways of promotion and building brand awareness. Like a signature in a forum post, you’d be hard pressed to find a marketing technique that is as easy as adding a few lines to the bottom of every email that you send.

The signature below is a typical signature designed to primarily offer contact information. A traditional business may include this form of contact email signature and may include a ‘one-liner’ to help promote their business.

FREE Step by Step Guide On How To Make Money Online

I read tons of ebooks. I guess I should rephrase that to I skim tons of ebooks. Most ebooks aren’t worth the effort it took to download it. I rarely find an ebook that impresses me so much that I go out of my way to recommend it, even a free one. I just finished one of the exceptions. In fact, this ebook by Soren Jordansen was so impressive I actually printed it out and I never do that.

It’s called, “Internet Marketing Success Formula” and it’s the most detailed step by step guide that I’ve seen yet. This guide is much more than a tips and resource ebook. Soren has really out done himself with this product. I’m sure he could easily sell this guide at a premium and it would sell but he has decided to offer it FREE! So grab your free copy now. It comes with 4 Bonus Ebooks that I haven’t even looked at yet.

The Battle For Email Deliverability

In today’s fight against spam, many ISPs filter emails using a technique called “content filtering”. Content filtering looks at the words, links, and images to determine if that message is likely spam. That ISP may block the message from being delivered to the subscriber if they believe it may be spam. A message that is incorrectly filtered is called a “false positive”. This occurs when a subscriber has specifically opted in for the email but the ISPs filtering program mistakenly classifies it as spam.

Hurt by your own subscribers

Members of AOL, Gmail, Hotmail, Earthlink, Outblaze, Road Runner, Excite and others can push a button to report a message as spam. Unfortunately many people push the button when they no longer wish to receive the newsletter rather than unsubscribing. Some don’t realize what they are doing and just do it so your future emails go into their spam box. If the number of complaints gets too high, ISPs may block your messages altogether.
