Just Ask – Ken Needs Targeted Traffic

Q: Thank you for your offer.  I checked my listing there and it was terrible.  What can I do?
Ken D.

Hi Ken, It looks like you are pretty much promoting one site. I’ve never heard of 100dollarbills2u.com. You won’t know how well it works unless you can get some targeted traffic to your affiliate pages. I’m assuming you aren’t getting direct traffic or with other trackers.

It looks like you are already subscribed to our Tracker Blog. I would recommend you subscribe to the Extreme Ezine too but that sounds a little self-serving. I think a question related to targeted traffic would interest many of our visitors. It sounds like a fun question. :) Lets see what kind of tips we can generate…

Anyone know how Ken can drive targeted traffic to his site?

As usual, the two best methods I strongly advise is are forum marketing and article marketing. Visit forums closely related to your niche and from there, you either learn from others or brand yourself as a pro.

Article marketing brings a long term viral effect in terms of traffic and also help to brand you up. Win win situation here!

I guess he concentrate on SEO stuff. Just my opinion.

Brian  on December 30th, 2008

SEO is important Atniz but I’m not sure Ken has a website. It looks like he’s promoting affiliate sites.

1. Find blogs in your niche(s).
2. Subscribe to said blogs
3. READ and Comment your ass off.

Comment on a lot, and comment often. Be sure your comments add to the discussion or better. Your traffic will rise.

Now, that said, listen carefully…check and double check for a comment policy on each and every blog if your only URL’s are affiliate sites.

Lots of blogs (like mine for instance) don’t appreciate affiliate URL’s in the URL field, as 9 x outta 10 it just reeks of spam.

Even if they don’t have a policy or they do and it doesn’t say anything, be sure your comments are twice as good as the others. :)

Brian  on December 31st, 2008

Thanks Dennis, That’s a great point about affiliate URL’s. Another reason to have a blog or website.

BTW I like your comment policy. I need to update mine so it’s that easy to read.

Wow Brian, that was alot of link for Ken. Thanks I appreciate your effort in sharing stuff with your readers!

You’re welcome and thanks for the kind words. :)

Pheak Tol  on January 1st, 2009

SEO is helping me, i would concentrate on SEO, and like Pei said up top, register at forums closely related to his niche and promote yourself there commenting with quality.

Brian, i was looking for a box to check to get emails if there’s replies to this post i couldnt find one, just fyi because comments are big on helpful tips and tricks.

Brian  on January 1st, 2009

Thanks Pheak, Forum marketing is something I’m getting back into again myself.

Earlier today on the SezWho Options I checked the ‘Enable Comment Template’ box and the option for the ‘Subscribe to Comments’ plugin disappeared. I didn’t realize it until you mentioned it. I ‘unchecked’ the box and now the Subscribe to Comments is working again. Now if I could figure out why the Comment Luv isn’t working I’d be real happy.

Perhaps ken should start a website or blog of his own to create interest in his affiliates. His website could be as simple as a squeeze page or consist of multiple pages generating interest in each affiliate. On top of that he could use the above methods as way of marketing.

Brian  on January 2nd, 2009

I agree one hundred percent Sire. I’m a big believer in having your own website or blog. I would also recommend his own domain rather than free hosting using a sub-domain. Domain and hosting could cost less than $100 US a year. The little bit of money spent should be easily earned back many fold.

Host Gator has plans for as little as $4.95/mo and a domain is about $10/year. (Yes, that’s an affiliate link) Seventy bucks a year is a small price to pay to be taken seriously.

Sire  on January 2nd, 2009

Damn me for not stating the obvious Brian. I assumed that Ken knew I meant hosting his own blog or website. My Cool Blog Links site hosting package actually came with a free domain for life and packages start from as low as $3.95/month.

Brian  on January 2nd, 2009

That’s ok Sire, he probably knew but I’m a little slow :) Free domain for life and $3.95/month is fantastic. Feel free to leave a link whenever you have something like that. Even an affiliate link is ok.

Sire  on January 2nd, 2009

Now there is an invitation I can’t refuse. That particular site is hosted on Web Hosting Pad and so far I can safely say that everything is running smoothly.

Make Money Online  on January 2nd, 2009

Wow Sire, thats a cheap offer there. Does it have 3rd party ads?

Make Money Online  on January 2nd, 2009

Yup trust me my friend.. Once you try it you will know what I mean =)

Ben

Sire  on January 2nd, 2009

Actually it doesn’t Ben. I use it to host my Cool Blog Links Site and as you can see no third party ads. Google was really kind to me on this one as it’s PR1 and only weeks old.

Jessie | Flashlight  on January 9th, 2009

True. With prices the way they are, there really is no reason he shouldn’t have his own site or blog. Also, there’re a lot of free guides available online for people looking to do just that, in the event he needs help setting things up.

Brian  on January 9th, 2009

Hi Jessie. He could also follow this group and learn a lot by visiting everyone’s sites. There’s a wealth of knowledge in the authors of these comments.

Brad West  on January 24th, 2009

Ok Ken,

Hey Folks I have read this string of comments and I agree with almost everything. Always leave the door cracked a little with an almost incase you got to escape. LOL I know it has been a long day when I start cracking myself up with stupid crap.

Any way back to this. I know I can’t make this short. So here goes

I would say get your own internet real estate if you are serious about winning.
Take your time building a list of keywords “long tail keywords” mostly, in that list you should be able to find a long tail to use for a domain name.

Do not just jump in with both feet read, research, and ask questions. Gather as much info as possible before taking this step. Make a plan and then act. It will cut down your getting discouraged allot if you have a little knowledge.

This step is a bit of learning but can be the most rewarding.

I know this 100dollarbills2u it is an affiliate like many others out there today and they are mall the best, most profitable to join. It is a tuff market to push affiliate programs, but doable. Keep a few things in mind if you don’t have a list to get started you need to sell yourself first and foremost. People pushing links are a dime a dozen. So be different talk about things that you know about. Read and reply to posts but stand out by intelligently posting, take the extra time to do a little research if you have to. You don’t have to push your link just make it available.

I would stress to you, use Google to find blogs, and forums to find your niche market. If at all possible get an rss reader like Google reader. And put your feeds in there for the sites you may be interested in. Then you only need to go to one place to review where you would like to go and post your knowledge.

Social networks are a bit different to work, I’m not sure I would send you there unless you are looking to run around spamming peoples profiles like the rest of them.

This is getting long and I could go on and on but one last suggestion and this is for everyone. Every year in August there is the 30 day challenge, its free and it is a commitment, but so is pushing an affiliate program. This will open your eyes to whole new world. That is all I can say

If your just concentrating on SEO I agree with these comments already made. Just a recap.
Article writing, Summit URL to directories, comment on blogs, join forums (just don’t leave any links at first just comments)You also could hide your affiliate URL with a new domain name and then redirect to affiliate site. Also there is always tinyurl.com and customize your new link. If you find it difficult to keep at all this (because you must be consistent) you an always outsource some of the work. GetAFreeLancer.com offers many inexpensive, but experienced people to do this work. Remember, time is money.

Who would have thought you could learn something from reading a comment policy page, but I just did from reading yours.

I’ve read a ton about blog walking and commenting on other blogs to generate traffic to your website, but I never even thought to SEO my comments on those blogs by including keywords in my comments.

Does this work well?

I don’t have any evidence that it works but I think it does with do-follow blogs that are indexed on a regular basis.

Hey Brad Along with a little seo you need to get your comment found. this could be a roulette game. So for assurance I ping my comments. Most are moderated so I will keep a running list on a word doc. also a great resource to return to sites later. But I will go back for a ping visit when my comment is published.
The best I have found out of the 6 that I bookmarked is Pingler at The difference is night and day for seeing indexed back links.

I haven’t seen that before. Some might think it’s spammy but I’m ok with it since decent content followed.

Plus I actually checked it and this is the only page you’ve used that on according to Google. Thanks for the comment :)
