Free Online ‘Do Follow’ Blog Search Engine

I was just reading another great post from one of my new friends, Peter Lee, called How Blog Commenting Got Me 1200 Backlinks in 5 Days

In his post Peter included a valuable free online resource that I wanted to share with our subscribers and visitors. It’s a simple online search engine that finds Do-Follow blogs called LINK REMOVED [Oops, That link is now bad. Try this one instead http://www.inlineseo.com/dofollowdiver/ or this http://www.google.com/coop/cse?cx=013390256337737331053:jq3m6dxkyts]This speeds up the time it takes to find blogs that reward quality comments with search engine friendly backlinks. As you know, these back-links are needed to improve your SEO (search engine optimization).

NOTE: I noticed that I only get the first ten results while using Firefox/3.0.3 In Internet Explorer 7 you get the ‘next page‘ links at the bottom of the page. I don’t know why Firefox cuts that part off but to build backlinks that count it’s worth opening up Microsoft’s browser.

    Hi Brian,

Thanks for the mention and linkback. Appreciate it. I’m using Firefox 3.03 too but I’m able to see the ‘next page’ links like in IE when I checked ‘dofollo.com’

No problem Peter, I’m glad you shared it with us. It may be one of the plugins I’m using on Firefox causing the problem. I have far too many. One of these days I’ll get around to cleaning it up by removing the ones I don’t use.

  3. Norhafidz says:

Peter really put up some great job there, generating thousands of backlinks in 5 days is not easy. Kudos to you too Brian for sharing the Dofollo.com :)

    Hi Brian!
On the DoFollow.com site I do have the list of following pages at the bottom while using FF 3.
The only thing I found is that many of the sites that were listed there are no follow or no commenting. Yip, just my luck. LOL!
We have upgraded our blogs so, we can choose per comment as to follow or no follow. It might sound snarky but, those people that I do not know and are just leaving very iffy comments, I put them as no follow. It has seemed to cut down them coming back 10 times just for the link. There are those that I do just delete as spam also.
I read how Peter got all the backlinks – WOW! That is awesome! I am a bit slower.
Ok, I will not write a whole post here. LOL!

My pleasure Ben. You have plenty here :)

  8. Brian says:

Hi Sheryl, I’m one of those that just delete the obvious comment spam. Adding the no-follow tag does sound like a nice way to discourage some of the comment spam.

It was just a coincidence but I was just in the middle of a related post when I noticed your comment. It’s ‘The Best Anti-Spam WordPress Plugin: Akismet‘.

  9. Brad West says:

    Hi Brian.
I got your message last night that your new ezine was out. took a peek and passed Sheryl the link this article. Not sure if Sheryl realizes that we can use the Akismet from word press for the B2 Evolution Blog. http://manual.b2evolution.net/Plugins/akismet_plugin if anyone is running a B2 and wants it.

Not sure if you know anything about the B2 Evolution Blog. A few years back there was a falling out at wordpress and this group left and went into the development of the B2. It is an open source situation like Fire Fox is, B2 has actually been one up on word press for a long while now in a lot of ways. Just recently wordpress has come up with some cool features with their New wordpress direct. Billing and service seem to be in question. Don’t know if they got that straightened out yet.

I won’t get into specifics right now. But the B2 is a lighter blog with some super SEO features. Sheryl’s blog Right now has 7 separate blogs on it that could be run off of separate urls. She just runs the main Sherylloch.com base url for all of them just because we have branded and built her name. All the blogs are linked by navigation a menu.

I’m defiantly not here to bad mouth wordpress they have a lot of people that really enjoy their product. Of course we have made our choice also, we do love our b2s we have three right now.

Thanks for the reminder about Akismet, I had forgot about it in the midst of all I have going on.

Hi Brad, thanks for the info. That is great news for those using B2 Evolution. I have heard of B2 Evolution but never really looked into it. I did notice Sheryl’s Marketing Help Blog when I was looking over her site. In fact, I plan on adding a link to it on our ad tracking site so our members can benefit from her articles. I didn’t realize it was the B2 Evolution Blog that allowed her to have multiple blogs interlaced together like that. That is very cool.

  11. Brad West says:

Sorry for some misinformation Brian. The red head woke up……. I thought that she may need the Akismet plug-in So I went and got the down load and the API key from wordpress. A little surprise if she wanted it I would work on her site for a bit today.

Well just recently I had done a way overdue upgrade to Sheryl and Caits sites’ from a 1.9.2 to a 2.4.5 Went very smooth by the way.

Long story short Sheryl tells me that Akismet is already part of the blog with the upgrade.

She is actually ecstatic about People using her Marketing Blog. There are so many sites that need attention it is a bit slow building. We have come across some real cool stuff as of late we need to get on there.

We would also like to give you some link love back also. Our board is almost done to, that is another whole story. Already have a page rank and it isn’t really public yet. LOL

Thanks Shri, Peter put together a great list. At one time I had a desktop utility that searched for do-follow blogs but know I can’t find it. No real need anyway now that there are online resources.

  14. diáre says:

i love these lists. very helpful indeed.
but i would love see a truly desktop application that can search real time for blogs with dofollow. like comment kahuna but i have problem with that one as it seems it cannot find blogs in language that i am interested in. i mean whats the point of having a link from english blog to slovakian site ?

  15. Brian says:

Hi Diáre, a desktop program would be nice. The one I had is probably out of date by now. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the do-follow search engines develop some type of desktop version.

  16. Lars Koudal says:

Has anyone noticed that the dofollo.com domain is no longer active, it forwards to another url?

  17. Lars Koudal says:

@Brian, I forgot to mention, that there is a desktop version already out there, Komment Kahuna, I think its called. Its for PC, so I have no use for it as a MAC-man ;)

  18. Brian says:

Hi Lars, For a second I thought you had forgotten to add the ‘w’ but there’s nothing there either. It’s certainly a waste of a good domain name.

I checked out Komment Kahuna. Call me old fashioned but I wasn’t all that impressed.

  24. Brian says:

Sure DeViLnoAnGeL, most of us prefer a do-follow blog to comment on. Just be sure it’s a legitimate comment on a legitimate blog. Do-follow is not the only reason to post a blog comment but it is a way to gain PageRank. Other than that there are other benefits to commenting on do-follow and no-follow blogs that outweigh the whole PageRank debate.

  25. DeViLnoAnGeL InFo says:

    Thanks for replying my comment.

If i’m commenting on do-follow blog, is there any disadvantage for the blog even if the comment are the quality one.

What i’m saying is Do-Follow Blog of course doesn’t want have a bad comment on it article. Example right now maybe my comment isn’t a quality comment but if you approve my comment because you think it’s a legitimate comment do you have a disadvantage with my comment ?

  26. Brian says:

Hi DeViLnoAnGeL, Your comments are good quality or I wouldn’t approve them. I don’t believe I would be at risk unless the Google thought I was charging a fee for the do-follow links. In that case it would be considered a paid link. Since there’s no risk of that I think we’re ok.

Keep in mind that Googlebot is a program and can’t think like you and I, not yet anyway. The bot is picking up and indexing key words and can’t really consider the overall meaning of conversation. If you called me a stupid idiot and I suck at blog posts the search engines might pick up the keywords but wouldn’t know you insulted me and hate my blog.

I’ve recently been discussing this very topic with a few friends on The Internet Marketers Guild. Check out Commenting on Do Follow Blogs

  28. anne@My Love says:

I think dofollow blog is good if you want to “socialize” and give feedback to your visitors. Of course spam is always there, that’s why Akismet is worth using for. And maintaining a blog today requires a great deal of time to filter those spams manually.

  29. PBBG says:

1200 posts in 5 days? That works out to an average of 10 posts per hour, assuming 24 hours of work.

I’m thinking of the time it takes to find relevant blogs to post on, then read enough of the blog post in order to make a comment that contributes to the article, not just spam it with the standard “nice article” which all of us recognize as an excuse to post a link. Sure, we comment to get the back link, but the comment should still contribute.

Add to this his own standards of quality comments and a standard PR of 3, this makes finding good places to post even more time consuming.

Finally, I would be very careful about adding so many dofollow backlinks in such a short period of time since this would look inflated to Google and appear unnatural. Slow and steady wins the rank, sudden bursts of Google juice looks suspicious.

  30. Brian says:

Hi PBBG, I don’t think Peter commented on 1200 posts in 5 days. lol He commented on a hand full of do-follow blogs that use the Top Commentator’s plugin. He would post until he made the Top Commentator’s list which is on the blog’s sidebar. That would give him a back-link for every page on the blog. So if a blog has 300 pages he would get 300 back links. Here’s his post if you want to check it out: How Blog Commenting Got Me 1200 Backlinks in 5 Days. Peter is a pro and definitely one to follow.

  32. Photoshop Learner says:

But what I read somewhere in the forums was that Google frowns upon those who build more than 100 backlinks a day! So isn’t this going to be bad in the eyes of Google?

  33. Photoshop Learner says:

The link to the dofollow blog search engines given here are similar to the many others where one can submit links to dofollow sites, which get listed here. The search engine is not a dynamic one, it contains a directory of dofollow sites out of which most have converted to nofollow with the passage of time. If it was a dynamic dofollow search engine, the results would have included only the dofollow sites, and excluded the nofollow ones. But these links are good for beginners.
I guess its almost impossible to create a dynamic dofollow search engine because how can you program it to differentiate between the dofollow links on the page and the content with the dofollow links allowed in the posts, comments or signatures.

  34. Brian D. Hawkins says:

I’ve never heard the ’100 backlinks a day’ theory. I guess that would make sense if they suspected a bot was responsible but other than that I’m not sure.

If a large site had a contest, for example, it could conceivably generate hundreds or even thousands of links in just hours. If a large network news site posts big breaking news I could see hundreds of inbound links occurring very quickly.

Just my thoughts on the matter, like I said, I really have no personal knowledge about it. It’s an interesting question though.

Hi Simon, as far as the statement, “So if a blog has 300 pages he would get 300 back links” I’ve heard many opinions. Some say it’s true others say it doesn’t count. One of our commenters is even concerned about it building too many links at once causing a penalty. I’m not sure which is true but it just goes to show us that SEO and back-linking is a complicated issue.

    Thanks for sharing nice information.

  47. Photoshop Learner says:

No, I completely agree with you Brian. I never gave a thought at it and fell for that false opinion. Or maybe that was meant for some website which was having no backlinks at all and all of a sudden it makes 100 a day. So maybe that’s what’s harmful? I am not sure. But people said that as long as you build less than 100 per day you are safe or 500 per week is also safe. Anyways, I am not reaching this number anywhere in near future. Will take time. And I think if at all a page gets more than 100 backlinks a day, it must be automatic by the way of people sharing and referring as you mentioned which would certainly look natural to Google and won’t be harmful. Thanks for your opinion on this one. :) A great help as always.
