Flickr Follows

I was working on my personal photo blog recently and I decided to start copying photos over to my Flickr account. I setup a separate set (group) called ‘Passionate Photo‘ hoping to drive a little Flicker traffic to the site. I made sure I had a good title, description and tags. I also added the following terms in the description of each photo:

flickr_link.jpgFeel free to use this photo for your website or blog as long as the complete watermark stays visible and readable. If you need to crop out the watermark or it becomes unreadable please link to http://passionatephoto.com/ with photo credit.

flickr_alert.jpgI was pleasantly surprised to see that my blog URLs on the main pages does not have the rel="nofollow" tag included. I noticed this when I received a Google Alert and clicked the link. (I use the SeoQuake Firefox plugin that helps me quickly see the do-follow links.)

Flickr.com has a Google PageRank of 09/10 and is rated 32 by Alexa.

Hi Pheak, I found out entirely by accident. What’s your Flickr acct. link? If you want others to see that it :)

  3. Brian says:

Hi Gennaro, thanks, I haven’t really been promoting it much but it’s one of those sites that’s just fun to post to. I carry a camera everywhere and am always looking for a great picture.

Nice find. Never would have thought Flickr follows. I really like the set up of Passionate Photo. Nice display with lots of interactivity (rating, comments). A site would have a lot of trouble succeeding without that reader participation part of it.

Thanks Dennis, I have fun taking them but they are not very professional.

Hi Kristi, don’t forget to add good key words too so they come up in the searches.

I should of had everyone leave their Flickr profile links so I could add them as friends. Feel free to leave it if you want.

How about that- thanks for sharing. I also have a flickr account and haven’t really used it to drive traffic to my blog. However, I too have a photoblog at my site “simply blog.” The pics I upload to flickr stream onto my social page at my site. :)

Hi Mig, Nice guest post on Yan’s blog. I like your Photo blog. I just tried to leave a comment but I got this error:

‘Sorry, there was an error. JavaScript and Cookies are required in order to post a comment.
You appear to have at least one of these disabled.’

I’ll try back later. I’m also following you on Twitter as ExtremeEzine.

I didn’t realize you could easily get a backlink from Flickr. This is definitely worth a try. It doesn’t happen every day, does it?
