- Akismet –
Akismet is a free WordPress plugin that helps control blog comment spam. I’ve ran Akismet on every blog I’ve owned and it has filtered out thousands of spam comments for me. I don’t know how it works but I do know that it works great.
Extra: Our friend Collin AKA konvictcollin of Feed Flare just posted a nice article on Akismet.

A picture Is Worth A Thousand Sales
Why are video ads so powerful? Commercials help the viewer ‘see‘ the product working for them. The same can be achieved using still photos or graphics. A photo of an actual person using your product successfully, e.g., “Solving their problem” can make or break the sale.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
A friend just emailed this to me:
Looking for Work – Funny, but true!
A Japanese doctor said, ‘Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take a kidney out of one man, put it in another, and have him Looking for work in six weeks.’
A German doctor said, ‘That’s nothing, we can take a lung out of one Person, put it in another, and have him looking for work in four weeks.’
A British doctor said, ‘In my country, medicine is so advanced that we can take half of a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have Them both looking for work in two weeks.’
A Texas doctor, not to be outdone said, ‘You guys are way behind. We took a man with no brains out of Texas, put him in the White House, and Now half the country is looking for work.’

- Pull Marketing -
Basically, if you break all marketing in just two major categories they would by pull marketing and push marketing. Pull Marketing would be the strategy of ‘pulling’ the customer in with special offers, coupons and sales.
The best article I’ve seen on the subject is Push Marketing Versus Pull Marketing on MoreBusiness.com. It’s very easy to understand. Another take on Pull Marketing is Pull Marketing Part 1 by Sam Knoll.

Outstanding collection of information as always.
I sympathize whole-heartedly with your issue of slimming down your stable of ventures and have done the same myself.
The volume of opportunities, techniques, discoveries etc. that grows and evolves around us on the Internet leads to an easy path of unfocused efforts.
It is quite easy to wake up one morning and realise that you are simply going in too many directions.
The other thing that happens is a growth in understanding, knowledge and expertise. This too leads us toward a point where we often realize what it is that we like doing, excel at and should be doing. This leads many of us to trim the fat and focus in on our core competancies.
Keep the great information flowing.
Onward & Upward!

Hi Sam, thanks for the comment. I think I made the right choice. I didn’t realize how many links I had generated. I’m in the process of fixing hundreds of dead links and empty pages but I’m already able to spend more time on my main sites and do things right. Thanks, Brian
