Dylan Turns Guerrilla

Bob Dylan

Guerrilla Marketing

Nothing surprising here but Sony BMG Music Entertainment (UK) Ltd. help promote Dylan’s latest release with a little Guerrilla Marketing. This very cool viral video generator allows fans to send customized versions to their friends. Very nice!

I have to say, although I *hate* the fact that this viral marketing does intrigue me so much it really does.

Obviously a lot of time and effort went into creating it, and obviously it works.

The trend of viral marketing reached in album selling too… I hope it won’t effect the artist’s value.

Hi Atniz. I’m sure Dylan’s value is secure. He’s a huge star. I wonder if he even knows what methods are used to promote his albums. He’s probably not interested in that stuff. I am but I have no musical talent :)

I would say that that sure tends to be the case quite often. A person strong in one skill can be heavily lacking in another skill that they would normally be assumed to have, based on their main strength. It is key not to assume people have all the skills associated with their main skill.

That is very interesting. Maybe they’re finally embracing net marketing.

I love those type of viral marketing. ETrade is doing one now with their talking babies that you can have say anything you want.

BTW, did you hear the new Dylan Christmas song this year? I beleive it’s called “It Must Be Santa”.

The song is still stuck in my head more than a month after Christmas.
